RV CARPORTS
Types of RV Carports
The regular style metal RV carport kit is our classic, most economical design, with a rounded roof that resembles the look of a barn. The roof sheeting runs horizontally from end to end. This style of carport is one of the most popular in the US, and can be designed to accommodate more than one vehicle.
Also known as boxed-eave RV canopies or RV carports, this style is popular among homeowners who want an RV shelter kit that will better match the look of their house. The A-frame roof sheeting runs horizontally like that of a regular roof. One advantage that the A-frame has over a regular roof is that it has a sturdier design.
The vertical style RV cover is the strongest available RV carport plan. The roof is A-framed, but it is also reinforced with additional bracing and supports. Another distinction of the vertical style RV shelter is that the roof sheeting runs vertically, rather than horizontally, which enables rain and snow to flow off more easily.
As you might expect, the most common way our customers choose to use their new RV cover is for sheltering a camper or motorhome, and these covers are ideal for such a purpose. Of course, you aren’t limited to using it only for RV storage. These tall steel structures are also great for covering other types of equipment, or for hosting a backyard BBQ for your neighbors!
Perhaps your recreational vehicle is designed not for the open road, but for open waters. American Metal Structures can also help you custom design and install an RV cover for your boat and trailer, or for other large trailer rigs. We can also provide you with a double RV shelter that will cover and protect both your motorhome AND your boat!
Our steel RV carports provide reliable open-air shelter for any large vehicle, but perhaps you’d also like to have some enclosed utility storage space to go with it. Our RV covers with attached utility space include the best of both worlds! Or maybe you’d like to have an enclosed RV garage with attached open-air lean-to covers to be able to shelter other items. We can do that, too!
BENEFITS
RV Carport Roof Styles
The regular roof style is a good choice if you’d like your RV carport roof to have a rounded look like that of a barn. The regular roof provides reliable protection from excess UV exposure, and the roof panels run horizontally from end to end. The regular roof is a good choice if you live in an area that gets little heavy rain or snow.
The A-frame or boxed-eave roof more closely resembles the look of a house, and like a regular roof its panels run horizontally. The A-frame roof is a stronger design than the regular roof, and is a better choice if you live in an area that may receive some heavier rain or snow.
The vertical roof is our premier choice. It’s built on the stronger A-frame, and it also comes with additional reinforcements that make it our strongest option. Vertical roof sheeting also channels rain, snow, and debris off the roof more easily. The vertical roof is your best option if you experience more extreme weather, and is highly recommended for any building that is 36’ in length or greater.
Advantages of Metal RV Carports
Steel RV carports are better than buildings made with wood or other materials for several reasons:
- Easier to Maintain – Metal is easier to clean and needs less maintenance than stick-builds or other structures. And since the color is infused into the metal during the fabrication process, you won’t have the same peeling or fading paint issues that wood does.
- More Rugged – Steel RV carports will not rot like wood and can stand up to rigorous use and the stresses of wind, rain, snow, and lightning; they’re even more earthquake-resistant! The metal paneling is coated with aluminum or zinc compounds to help prevent rust and prolong panel life.
- More Resistant to Pests and Fire – Steel isn’t susceptible to termites, critters, or pests, and it doesn’t harbor mold or mildew. Steel is also much preferred for its fire resistance.
- Customize Any Way You Want – Steel is a much more versatile building component; it allows for more customization options and more efficient use of interior space. It’s also easier to expand or adapt your metal RV camper carport as your needs expand or change.
- Cheaper Insurance Rates – Thanks to the superior strength, durability, and fire resistance of a metal RV carport, your insurance costs may actually decrease if you choose steel over other materials. That’s another cost benefit you receive from partnering with American Metal Structures!
- Easy to Install, Portable, & Environmentally Friendly – Metal RV carports require less time, labor, and energy resources to install than do stick-builds or other options. Steel structures are also easier to disassemble and relocate, should you ever have a need. Another nice feature of our buildings is that the steel components we use are almost 100% recyclable!
Select the Right RV Carport for Your Needs
One of the first things you need to decide when choosing a metal RV carport is how you plan to use your structure. Consider how much space you’ll need to accommodate your RV, camper, boat, or other vehicles and items you’d like to store. It’s important to factor in the length, width, and height of the items you plan to shelter. We recommend you allow for extra space to be able to get around your vehicles, as well. We can custom build to pretty much any size structure you may need. We can build metal carports tall enough to house everything from RVs to combine harvesters!
